Analysis of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Member Countries' Strategies in Maintaining and Strengthening Their Relevancies in Today's International Politics(Case of Study: Indonesia, through NAM CSSTC)

Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is a movement of the newly independent states of Asia, Africa and Latin America that came into existence after the Second World War, that didn’t want to have to choose and align with the then two Superpowers (USSR and the US). These countries made commitments to help each other find their own footings in the global political and economical affairs. The purpose of this research is to analyze NAM Member Countries’ Strategies in maintaining and strengthening their relevancies in today’s international politics, particularly those of Indonesia through the Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) Jakarta, Indonesia. The method used for this research is qualitative, as it is a case study of an international organization. In-Depth Interviews (IDI) were conducted as the primary source of data, with previous studies (books, journals, etc) as supporting sources. The results of this research revealed that, despite all the challenges and changes in the dynamics of today’s international politics, Indonesia, through NAM CSSTC, has always been making consistent efforts in maintaining and strengthening the relevancies of Non-Aligned Movement, as it is also aligned with their “free and active” foreign policies. Efforts were shown through financial contributions to the Centre, actualizations of NAM CSSTC’s many programmes such as training and capacity building programmes for NAM member and other developing countries of the South
